About Nina Daniels

My name is Juanita “Nina” Daniels, and Pasquotank County has always been my home. For more than a decade, I’ve proudly served in our Sheriff’s Office. I broke barriers as the first woman Sergeant to lead a division and went on to serve as a Lieutenant. Through those years, I’ve learned that true leadership is defined by service.
I believe safety comes from trust, and trust comes from listening. That’s why I’m committed to building strong relationships between law enforcement and our community. My promise is simple: to lead with integrity, to listen to our community, and to ensure Pasquotank County is a place where everyone feels valued and protected.
Building Trust. Strengthening Community.
Nina's approach involves a deep understanding of community needs. She listens, strategizes, and implements policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of all residents. Here's how her process unfolds:
Platform Values

Deputy Morale
I believe that when deputies feel valued, supported, and led with integrity, they are better equipped to serve our community. My focus is on strengthening morale, building a healthy culture from the inside out, and ensuring every deputy has the leadership, resources, and respect they deserve.
Protecting Our Schools, Securing Our Future
Keeping our schools safe means more than security; it means trained, trusted School Resource Officers and strong partnerships between the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office and the Superintendent’s Office. Our children deserve safe, supportive places to learn, and I’m committed to making that a reality.

Community Voices
Nina's dedication and passion have truly made a difference in our community. Her commitment to community safety and justice is inspiring.

“During the 2024 Leadership Institute, Lt. Juanita ‘Nina’ Daniels immediately stepped up as class treasurer, ensuring we were organized and prepared every day. What might seem like a small role made a big impact—her dedication allowed us to focus fully on becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Nina’s commitment, guidance, and service stood out, and I believe she is ready to lead today.”
“I attended Leadership Institute Session VIII at the North Carolina Justice Academy with Nina. As Sheriff, she will lead Pasquotank County with a clear mission—supporting her team, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and prioritizing safety, accountability, and integrity. Her leadership is rooted in professionalism, transparency, and trust—values she lives every day for the benefit of the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens she serves.”
